Kitsune--Nightfire performance in Nichols Arboretum, Ann Arbor, October 12, 2003
Based
on the Fox Woman legends of Japan. The fox-woman is a wild creature who takes
on the form of a woman and becomes the lover of a human man. In many of the
stories, she brings haunted sorrow, and in others, good fortune. She reflects
our fear and fascination with what lives in the unexplored territory of our
souls. A fox spirit is often the initiator for human shapeshifters who are
learning to transform themselves into animals.
